Growing into my own skin as a professional photographer is definitely not something I take lightly. In fact, it has required me to be more deliberate in how I develop my skills, broaden my perspective, gain clients and find my style. I find myself combing the internet for inspiration and ideas on how to get better. But I also find myself cringing at the thought of how people will view my work. Needless to say, it is uncomfortable in the best sense.
I have set a goal to go out and shoot weekly whether I have bookings or not. This is a way for me to explore the environment around me for possible future shoots, think and reflect, get out my comfort zone, test out ideas and develop my style. It is also a way to meet people who may be potential clients.
I took these photos around the corner from my job one Friday on my lunch break this summer. After loading them into Lightroom and subsequently Photoshop I began to manipulate them until I was satisfied with the final product. There was no particular inspiration around these that I would care to mention. These are just two of the images that stood out to me from that day and I share them here as they seem to fit today’s topic.
I have often heard the saying “get comfortable being uncomfortable” and have accepted that as my mantra. This blog is actually a result of that very concept. I am committing to blogging weekly also. As I continue to develop and grow I hope you will stay tuned. The best is yet to come!
